Thiago Braz Wins Silver Medal in Poland in His Second Competition of 2022
Our Olympic medalist Thiago Braz has barely started the international pole vault competition season and has already made it to the podium for the first time this year. The athlete won the silver medal at the 2022 Orlen Cup, his second competition on this new circuit.
Held in Łódź, Poland, as part of the World Athletics indoor competitions, this marks the second consecutive time that the Brazilian Olympic record-holder has excelled in the same event. At the 2021 Orlen Cup, Thiago won the bronze medal, but now, on his return, he has moved up another rung after clearing 5.71 meters to take the silver.
Joining him on the podium was Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines, who took the gold medal with a jump of 5.81 meters, and, competing on home soil, Poland’s Piotr Lisek, after clearing 5.71 meters on his second attempt, took the bronze medal.
Now Thiago Braz is setting his sights further ahead, to February 17 in France, where he will compete in the Liévin tournament, aiming to achieve his third major milestone of the season.
