The road to the second edition of Neymar Jr.’s Five begins now! Red Bull’s high-impact tournament, which debuted in 2016 and brought together more than 10,000 teams and 65,000 players from 47 different countries, returns in 2017, this time bigger than ever, with 53 participating countries and new rules that make the tournament even more competitive.

Registration for NJr’s5 is open again. As before, the tournament consists of teams of five to seven players aged 16 to 25, but in this edition, two overage players per team will be allowed. The finalists will travel to the Neymar Jr. Project Institute to compete in the final rounds, and the winner will face a team assembled by Neymar Jr.

In 2016, the big winners were the Anjos da Bola from Rio de Janeiro, who were awarded a VIP trip to Barcelona and also had the opportunity to spend time with the Catalan club’s No. 11. “Meeting the winners was incredible!” said Neymar Jr. “Now I can’t wait to see who will win the 2017 world final at my Institute in Brazil.”

“I’ve always played with my friends using small goals. This tournament reminds me of my childhood, and I’m very proud of that. To win a five-on-five game, you need strategy and a good understanding of when the best time to attack is. Good defense is very important, and that’s how you can take your team far in the tournament,” said Neymar Jr.
