CIES Football Observatory Names Neymar Jr. the World's Most Valuable Soccer Player

On Monday (the 8th), the CIES Football Observatory released its list of the 100 Most Valuable Athletes in the World, and Neymar Jr. once again tops the list. The Paris Saint-Germain star was valued at €213 million.

Eight other Brazilians appeared on the list: Philippe Coutinho (€123 million), Gabriel Jesus (€122.6 million), Firmino (€102.9 million), Ederson (€93.5 million), Fabinho (€79.3 million), Marquinhos (€71.8 million), Casemiro (€62.9 million), and Jemerson (€55.4 million).

As in previous rankings, the study takes into account contract length, position, age, and club to estimate the value of a potential transfer for the athlete. Neymar Jr. tops the list once again, ahead of the current best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, valued at €80.4 million, and the second-best soccer player, Lionel Messi, valued at €202.2 million.
