NJr Boosts PSG Jersey Sales by 70%

Published on September 27, 2017

Paris Saint-Germain's newest players have been a hit with the fans since their arrival.

Mbappé and, especially, Neymar Jr. have increased sales of the club's jerseys tenfold, creating a sales phenomenon even greater than that seen during the Beckham and Zlatan era.

Jerseys featuring Neymar Jr.'s name account for an incredible 70% of sales at PSG stores, followed by those of Mbappé and Cavani. The yellow jersey, for example, is sold out due to its popularity.

It’s worth noting that this success has continued since the new No. 10 joined PSG. As soon as he joined the team, Neymar Jr. immediately boosted sales by 75%—120,000 jerseys were sold in the first month alone.

The numbers have skyrocketed. Since the player’s arrival, 300,000 club merchandise items have been sold. Today, the average number of visitors to the PSG store on the Champs-Élysées has increased by 80%, totaling 4,000 people per day. In addition, the megastore at the Parc des Princes welcomes about 1,000 people per day—before Neymar Jr. joined the team, the average number of visitors was 350.

Nike, the team’s official sports equipment supplier and also a partner of NR Sports—the company that holds the exclusive rights to Neymar Jr.’s image—recently launched a customized soccer cleat for the athlete. The model is called “Written in the Stars,” features the colors of Brazil—blue, yellow, green, and white—and includes special phrases such as “Ousadia e Alegria” (Boldness and Joy) as well as the full names and dates of birth of his son Davi Lucca and his sister Rafaella Santos.
