Published on August 8, 2017

An athlete’s life is full of challenges, and Neymar Jr. has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain and win new titles as his latest challenge. After signing the most expensive contract in soccer history, the Brazilian star arrived and was introduced to the French club on Friday (4), on one of the busiest and most special days of his career.

The star player, who had been with FC Barcelona since 2013, bid farewell to the Blaugrana team with a video posted on his social media and decided to play for Paris Saint-Germain. After paying the €222 million buyout clause, PSG and Nr Sports made Neymar Jr. the world’s most expensive athlete, in the biggest transfer in soccer history.

“Neymar, in my opinion, is the best player in the world. There’s only one Neymar, so it wasn’t easy, but we finally did it. He’s here in Paris, at the Paris "Saint-Germain," concluded the president of the French club.

Neymar Jr.'s first day in Paris was a long one. Upon arriving at Bourget Airport, he underwent a series of medical exams before officially reporting to his new club. Upon arriving at the Parc des Princes—the stadium that will be his home for the next few years—the athlete was welcomed by the president of PSG and proceeded to a series of interviews, as well as a press conference.

Right at the start of the press conference, Njr expressed his gratitude for the support and the opportunity to play for PSG. “I’m very happy. I’m grateful for the president’s kind words. I’m happy about everything—about this new challenge. I’m happy to be in Paris, which is a great club. It’s a wonderful city. I can’t find the words to describe this moment. I’m excited to train with my teammates, play, and win the titles the club deserves.”

After the press conference, the star player put on his new uniform, took part in a photo and video shoot on the field at the Paris stadium, and went on a tour through the streets, surrounded by a crowd of fans.

To wrap up his first day in Paris in style, Neymar Jr. went to the Ooredoo Center, greeted his new coach and teammates, and took part in his first training session.

Neymar Jr., Paris Saint-Germain’s new No. 10, was officially introduced to the fans on Saturday (5) at the Parc des Princes, before the club’s first game of the new season. Watching from the stands, the Brazilian saw his new team defeat Amiens 2–0.
