McDonald's unveils its new "World Cup Champions" sandwiches and features old tweets from Neymar Jr. on the packaging
It’s no secret that Neymar Jr. has always loved McDonald’s sandwiches. Some of the star player’s old tweets show the love he’s always had for the brand, and now those same tweets will appear on the packaging of every 2018 World Cup Champions sandwich.
McDonald’s has already used two different old tweets from the Brazilian national team’s No. 10 in two previous ads. The first was to announce the brand’s two new Big Tasties, and the second was to announce that its restaurants now offer soda refills.
Now, still riding the wave of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the fast-food chain is back with its familiar World Cup commemorative line, this time featuring the star player’s lighthearted tweets on the packaging of the Champion Sandwiches.
“It’s gratifying to have a star player from the national team as one of McDonald’s most passionate fans. These tweets only underscore the long-standing relationship we have with Neymar Jr. and why we want him to be part of our World Cup story,” says Roberto Gnypek, Vice President of Marketing at McDonald’s.
The World Cup Champions will be featured at the chain’s restaurants in Brazil starting April 24. In addition to the McBrazil, which will be available every day, the chain—which this year has decided to honor all World Cup champions—will also feature exclusive burgers for each day of the week: the McItaly (Sunday), McFrance (Monday), McSpain (Tuesday), McGermany (Wednesday), McUruguay (Thursday), McEngland (Friday), and McArgentina (Saturday).
