We wish to inform you that the athlete Neymar Júnior and his attorneys are already aware of the statement released today—August 22—by F.C. Barcelona regarding the lawsuit filed with the Social Court of Barcelona.

It is worth noting that this news came as a surprise, since the athlete fully complied with the contract then in effect, having paid in full the amounts freely agreed upon with F.C. Barcelona to secure his release.

Nevertheless, once proper notice of service has been served and following a thorough review of the lawsuit filed by the Club, the Athlete’s formal defense will be submitted in due course.

With regard to the bonuses owed for the signing of the 2016 contract—which were contractually agreed upon and which F.C. Barcelona has explicitly failed to pay—it should also be noted that the Athlete has already initiated formal collection proceedings before the competent court.
