Paris Saint-Germain will “decide” the 2018–2019 Ligue 1 title this Sunday (the 14th) against Lille at 4:00 p.m. (Brasília time). The match can be watched in Brazil and elsewhere around the world on DAZN, an online sports streaming service for which Neymar Jr. serves as a global ambassador through NR Sports.
The athlete won’t be taking the field this weekend because he’s still recovering from an injury to his right foot, but he’s one of the “faces” of the brand responsible for bringing the excitement of the French soccer league—as well as other sports—to fans in Brazil and abroad.
The partnership between NR Sports and DAZN began on February 15, 2019. The image of Neymar Jr. promoting Ligue 1 has helped boost viewership of the new service, which, for now, is available for free on the company’s YouTube channel. Soon, it will only be possible to watch live competitions through the app by paying a subscription fee.
“Our ambition is to be the world’s largest sports broadcaster, and to help us achieve that, we’re partnering with the greatest athletes of our generation. We’ll make history by fearlessly connecting with our fans through the best of sports in an authentic and human way,” said the company’s chief marketing officer, Johnny Devitt.
Neymar da Silva Santos, president of NR Sports, believes that the Brazilian athlete’s image will help boost viewership in upcoming seasons. “People want to see Neymar Jr. play, with his lively and unique style of soccer. DAZN is showcasing Neymar and his teammates to the world, which is why it’s leading the way,” he added.
