Neymar Jr.'s Secret Santa event to benefit the Institute was among the most talked-about topics

A special year-end program to benefit the INJR brought together 20 athletes for its third edition; creative gifts entertained the audience

The traditional gift exchange to benefit the Neymar Jr. Institute was among the most talked-about topics on social media last Tuesday night (21). The third edition of “Neymar Jr. Among Friends,” the Secret Santa event organized by the soccer star, was broadcast by SBT and brought together 20 prominent athletes from the national and international sports scenes.

Lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes, the program featured a star-studded lineup of world-class athletes, who were invited by Neymar Jr. to the traditional gift-exchange gathering and also supported the social cause. Appearing on the show for the second time, Gabriel Medina spoke about his admiration for Neymar Jr. and highlighted the initiative taken by the Brazilian national team and PSG’s No. 10 to create a social project aimed at giving back to the community what sports have given him.

“The work that Neymar and his family do is wonderful. It inspires people. It’s a source of pride to know that there are people like this, always thinking of others. He is a role model for all of us Brazilians, so it’s very important to have someone like him as a role model—someone who is giving back what the sport has given him. I’m proud to call him a friend, a brother, and he’s serving as an example for this whole new generation that looks up to him,” Medina said.

Sergio Ramos was one of the guests making his first-ever appearance on the show. The PSG defender, who also plays an important social role as a UNICEF Spain ambassador, spoke about the invitation to participate in the show in support of the Institute. “For me, it’s a privilege that Ney can count on me for a charitable cause. As a UNICEF ambassador, we work closely together to help children, and Ney is very committed to instilling values in children, educating them, and shaping their character,” he said.

During the show, Neymar Jr. answered questions from all the guests, and there was also a lot of gift-giving. Ronaldo was Neymar Jr.’s Secret Santa and received a personalized video game controller as a gift, Gabigol received a skateboard from Letícia Bufoni, Rafinha was given a painting by Laís Souza, Weverton nailed Sergio Ramos’s style and chose a stylish beret for the defender, and much more.

In this episode, which was a co-production of the Neymar Jr. Project Institute and WNB Produções Artísticas, the program also told the story of the INJR’s new project, in partnership with sponsoring companies, to train 100 young people between the ages of 18 and 21 who began their careers on cruise ships.

The teenagers joined the “Jovens Tripulantes” project, run by Deck4—a partner of INJR—and began their careers in November aboard Costa Crociere ships for the 2021/2022 domestic and European cruise season. The project also included partnerships with ISMBR, Litoral Plaza Shopping, Shelter Cursos, Dasa, Lavoisier, Delboni, Visão Laser, and Angiocorpore.
