Neymar Jr. is the first Brazilian to reach 100 million followers on Instagram

Last Sunday (the 15th), Neymar Jr. reached the incredible milestone of 100 million followers on Instagram. The Brazilian national team’s No. 10 now has one of the most-followed profiles on the app and is the only Brazilian with that many followers.

For some time now, the star has had the most-followed profile in Brazil, with Ronaldinho Gaúcho in second place, with about 34 million followers on Instagram. However, Neymar Jr. has now reached a new milestone, becoming the 11th most-followed account in the world and the first Brazilian to achieve such a high ranking on the app.

The athlete narrowly missed making the Top 10 Most-Followed People in the World. Justin Bieber remains ahead of him, with 101.5 million followers. Among athletes—not just soccer players, but athletes from any sport in the world—the star is the second most-followed, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 135 million. Messi ranks third, with 97 million.

However, Neymar Jr.’s growth on social media is incredible. During the World Cup, he gained more followers than anyone else across all social media platforms, with an increase of eight million followers. He is undoubtedly on his way to breaking into the Top 10.
